Generator installation for Lake Erie storm season

Out here the power goes when the wind picks up. Some people want a standby unit that starts on its own. Some just want to plug in a portable without running extension cords through the window. I set up both, the right way.

Generators and transfer switches by CFW Electric

What I handle

  • Standby whole-home generator hookups
  • Automatic and manual transfer switches
  • Generator inlet boxes for portable units
  • Interlock kits on existing panels
  • Picking which circuits stay on during an outage
  • Showing you how to run it before the next storm

When to call

  • You lose power more than once a winter
  • Someone in the house relies on medical equipment
  • You have a sump pump, a well pump or a freezer full of food
  • You own a portable generator and no safe way to connect it

What customers said

Chuck provided exceptional service above and beyond what I was hoping for. I needed a last minute installation for an outlet to run my newly purchased home generator. Chuck went out of his way to have the installation done within hours of me calling. Since I was leaving for an extended work trip soon, he then took the time to walk my wife through the process of running the generator for the house in case I wasn’t home. Great service, very knowledgeable and at a fair price. Would highly recommend.

Called CFW Electric LLC for breaker box, meter housing, and frayed wire replacement after NYSEG visit post-power outage. Charles Wegrzyn immediately called back, negotiated a quote based on a description and pictures. He dropped everything, arriving with his crew, and took care of the installation immediately after contacting NYSEG and set up the inspection process to follow. Great work ethic, knowledgeable, and personable. I would definitely use this company again without hesitation. My thanks to Chuck for being the take-charge expert I was looking for.

Chuck just installed the electrical for our high capacity portable generator and replaced several light fixtures and ceiling fans. He was super responsive, helpful, extremely knowledgeable, and reasonable cost wise. We will definitely use him again for future needs. 10/10 highly recommend!

So thankful for the absolute best service I could have asked for. Straightforward and honest, fixed our 1/2 house power outage the same morning and didn't break the bank! I would give 10 stars if I could! I will most definitely use again for any and all things electrical!

Questions people ask

Can I just plug the generator into a dryer outlet?
No. That is called backfeeding and it can kill a lineman working down the street. An inlet with an interlock or a transfer switch is the safe way to do it.
Standby or portable?
Standby is hands off and covers more of the house. A portable with an inlet costs a lot less and covers the essentials. I will walk you through both and you decide.
Do I buy the generator myself?
You can buy your own, or ask me what size makes sense for your house first. Either way I handle the electrical side.
